Sayre maintains an excellent educational system in three modern facilities; Sayre
Elementary, Sayre Middle
School and Sayre Senior High School. The high school is accredited by the North Central
Association of
Schools and Colleges. The high school offers many advanced placement courses and is a
member of the
Oklahoma Secondary Activities Association. Competitive athletics programs are also
available for boys and girls.
Public school facilities include a 700-seat auditorium, 400-seat cafeteria, and
a new 1,000 - seat gymnasium.
Sayre Public School maintains a 4,000-plus capacity football field, a baseball field,
track field, and a softball
field constructed in the summer of 1999.
Sayre Elementary has a partially underground addition built in 1989, which also serves,
as a storm shelter.
The Elementary School has headstart, preschool, and T1 programs on the campus.
The school serves a 600 square mile area with a student population of approximately
750. An abundant amount of
community support, along with a dedicated staff, supports the
motto of Sayre Schools, "Serving Students for

EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES
Sayre is unique for having varied educational resources available for a community of
its size. The public school
system has North Central Accreditation and offers graduating area seniors opportunities to
further their higher
education in Sayre. If a student or adult is seeking vocational education, the Western
Oklahoma Area Vocational
Technical Center offers a wide selection of courses to train or retrain students and
adults. A $1.7 million Western
Oklahoma Area Vo-Tech campus in Sayre was completed in December 1994. The following chart

Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Sayre is approximately 125 miles west of
Oklahoma City and 60
miles west of the SWOSU main campus in Weatherford. Southwestern at Sayre functions as a
lower division
program of higher education in the liberal arts and sciences leading to the Associate in
Science degree and
career and technical programs leading to the Associate in Applied Science degree.
Interactive Video has positioned the University to become a key player in the National
Information Highway.
Some upper division and Masters of Education courses are available on the Sayre
campus from Weatherford

VOCATION TECHNICAL CENTER


The area vocational technical school is the Western Technology Center in Sayre.
Completion of the Sayre
branch was in 1995. The 34,000 square foot branch campus offers five daytime programs and
